Some DIY Notes on Crochet Flower Scarf

This project, while very time consuming, is ideal as a sit-in-front-of-TV kind of project as each flower has to be repeatedly created.

Crochet Flower: Refer to the crochet chart on the right. This is a flower I found on Pinterest but which I have adapted for this scarf. (You can also refer to the original Pinterest flower chart if desired.)
Once you have made enough flowers, neaten up the loose ends of each flower. I sewed in the loose ends as well as applied some fabric glue to prevent unsightly fraying later on. The fabric glue, when dried, is invisible, flexible, and can be washed. I used Aleene’s OK to Wash Fabric Glue -It 4oz

Making the Crochet Scarf – Putting the Pieces Together

Thread in a good length of beads (if using beads).

Tip: Pin flowers onto board as you work.

Using a latch tool, join flowers. This is random, free-hand work. Add beads, as desired, as you go along.

When you have the desired width and thickness, sew in and neaten any loose yarn. Gently press flowers with iron.

Attach buttons. Note that at the other side of each button, I have tied off the yarn and made little “fluffs” for the flower center. In this way, the crochet scarf has two different flower surfaces: buttons on one, and fluff on the other. Each center has a small dab of glue for extra security.

Not too hard a project – just a bit time consuming. But satisfying. The resultant crochet flower scarf has good drape and a nice, comforting weight. I hope you enjoyed this project. Happy crafting!
