KOGO (Knit One Give One) crochet cowls for the homeless.
These crochet cowls will warm up the neck area – which is one of the areas of the body, when kept warm, will most help to keep a person warm and prevent loss of body heat.
The crochet cowls have been created in Mosaic Crochet as well as Overlay Crochet.
I sent off a box to them a few days ago together with a crochet lap blanket and some hats/beanies. And also with a lot of warm (virtual) hugs.
Kogo is a not for profit organisation that is doing great work in helping out the homeless. Please check them out if you are interested in giving some assistance. They have numerous drop off points as well as a postal address to which you can send some warm woolies.
Hugs to you all.
Personal Note (2024)
While I hope that what I sent to them has given some warmth and comfort to someone(s) who might most have needed it, I must say that personally I was disappointed with KOGO. I would have thought that it would have been mere polite courtesy to have acknowledged and sent me a note/email to say thank you and/or just to acknowledge receipt of parcel (which, for those who know, Australia Post parcel can cost quite a bundle). Even one of those cookie cutter emails of thanks made out of one-liners would have been something. But I heard nothing back. So in truth, to this day, I have no idea if my parcel ever got to them or to the people they were intended for.
or rather,
"Not happy, KOGO!!!"
