Crochet Stitch: Astrakhan Stitch

The Astrakhan Stitch is one of the nicest, puffy crochet stitches to use for a variety of purposes where thickness and warmth might be desired.

Any number of stitches.

(add 2 for base chain)

Note: work all rows with RS (right side) facing, viz. work even numbered rows from LTR (left to right)

R1 (RS): Miss 3ch (counted as 1dc). 1dc into each chain to end. DO NOT TURN.

R2 (RS): *7ch, slst into front loop only of next dc to right; rep from * ending 7ch, slst into top of ch at beginning of row. Do not turn.

R3: 3 ch (counted as 1dc), miss 1 st, 1dc into back loop only of next and each st of last-but-one row to end. Do not turn.

Repeat R2 and R3.
