Finally, a custom made knee-length winter coat, in happy colours and with hoodie. Yay!
This crocheted winter coat in multi-colors took months to make! And lots of trial and errors. But it surely has been worth it. The main crochet technique I used here was overlay crochet.
The yarn too was special: beautiful possum blend wool (70% Merino, 30% Possum fur) from New Zealand; gifted by Christine, a very good friend.
Lots of photos here. No tutorial. This was made without a pattern so there was a lot of testing and unravelling. However here are a number of detailed WIP photos that might be useful and informative.
The Finished Winter Coat - in Overlay Crochet
Features:
- Hood – with cord for adjusting
- Hand-wired dangles (skirt), using tear drop miracle beads (Miracle beads seem to glow in natural light and have the optical illusion of a glowing bead within the outer bead.)
- Scalloped bottom edging
- Merino Possum wool – very warm!
